The Man Behind the Name
The Paley Center for Media in NYC was founded in 1975 as the Museum of Television and Radio by William S. Paley. Paley was a pioneer and innovator in the media industry during the 70’s and has long been an advocate for the power of media. Paley had a vision to preserve important programming for generations to come, and that dream lives on in the center that bears his name.
The Paley Center for Media in NYC features more than 140,000 programs covering close to 100 years of radio and television history. These archives include news programs, public affair announcements, sports, children’s programs and so much more. You can find programs from more than seventy countries inside the Paley Center, including controversial commercials and hilarious variety shows. You can view any of the programs at the Paley Center inside one of the individual viewing/listening consoles! The Paley Center for Media proudly offers screenings of popular programs inside one of the many onsite theatres. Highlights of the Paley Center
Visitors will find dozens of exciting exhibits inside the Paley Center for Media, including these important programs:

Guided tours, which include information on all of the Paley Center’s exhibits, the collection, the Center’s history and current programs, are provided to the general public on a regular basis. The Paley Center for Media is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 6pm. The recommended admission price is $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors and $5 for children under fourteen.
