Beware of the Spectacled Bear

One of the Zoo's most popular residents is the Spectacled Bear. Black with a beige face, the Spectacled Bear is one of the smaller in its family. Adult males weigh less than 300 pounds and are capable of climbing to the tops of trees. Naturally found in Northern and Western South America, the Spectacled Bear is the second most endangered bear in the world behind only the Giant Panda. Watching these bears climb their trees and play is a sight to see. They will bring an original touch to your New York vacation. The Zoo's most popular bears, Cisco and Spangles will leave a smile on your face long after you've left the Queens Zoo.
