Pre-History

The New York Yankee’s began their Major League career in Baltimore, before a couple of NYC bartenders purchased the team for a mere $18,000 and moved them to the Big Apple. The Yankee’s would go on to win four straight World Series titles during the late 1930’s, scoring over or close to one-thousand runs in each of their four championship seasons. Vetran players like Gehrig and Lazzeri combined forces with newfound catch Bill Dickey and rookie outfielder Joe DiMaggio to further bolster the teams winning record and unstoppable charisma. Three more consecutive pennants were won in 1941, 1942, and 1943, beating the Dodgers in ’41 and split the next two with the Cardinals. Yogi Berra made his debut with the team in 1947, leading the Yank’s to another World Series title. The Yankees would go one to win five straight championships from 1949-1953, securing the title of the world’s greatest sports team.

Recent History

The New York Yankees have continued to experience success during the past decade, relying on a rejuvenated farm-team system and astute trades.
