The New York Post is a daily tabloid newspaper and is the 13th oldest paper to be published in the United States. Additionally, the New York Post is the oldest paper that has been continually published every day.Owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation since 1976, the New York Post newspaper’s circulation is a whopping 725,000 every day. The New York Post was founded in 1801 by Alexander Hamilton and was first known as the New-York Evening Post. One of the most famous early editors of the paper was William Cullen Bryant, an abolitionist and poet, chosen by Hamilton himself. Henry Villard took over the paper in 1881 and soon passed it on to his son, Oswald. Villard sold the paper to Thomas Lamont and it has been sold to many other people along the way. The New York Post Newspaper was eventually bought for $30 million by Murdoch. It was the only remaining daily paper in New York City at the time of Murdoch’s purchase.
