One unique thing about this building is that it’s the oldest one in the US of City Halls that still accommodates its initial government functions. You can find this building between Broadway, Park Row and Chambers Street in Manhattan.

Being a national landmark, New York City Hall has to live up to its expectations. It has many functions that it undergoes to keep up its name and its reputation as the best. Receptions are held in the Governor’s special room. This room has hosted people like Albert Einstein and Marquis de Lafayette. There is a Blue Room in the building which has been known for giving historic press conferences and is sometimes used to sign important bills. There is a room called Room 9 that is used for the storage of reports done by reporters. Many political demonstrations are held on the outside steps of the building and all significant events are televised by NYCTV.

One of the main reasons people visit the New York City Hall is because of its architecture. It is a unique building with a look that you are sure to fall in love with. It was designed in the style of American Federal architecture as the front is made of white marble and the back of brown sandstone. The stonework had to be restored in 1954 because of the decay of the original work. It was all replaced with limestone just on top of the pink granite basement level. This was important because it was the first time that the entire building had four matching walls. The inside of the building is just as beautiful as the outside with a grand marble staircase that heads up to the second floor. Even if you don't have time to go inside, make sure to drive by the New York City Hall in your New York City convertible rental or SUV rental so that you can appreciate the architecture.

New York City Hall has definitely has its moments in television history. It has been featured in various films and television shows. “Spin City” was set at City Hall where the main character was the Deputy Mayor. “City Hall”, which starred Al Pacino and John Cusack, was also filmed at this location. The building is even referenced in a folk song called “The Irish Rover”. If you enjoy looking at art, there is an exquisite portrait collection in the building of over 108 paintings from the 18th to the 20th century.
