The Museum of the City of New York houses a collection of over 1.5 million objects and images, including many rare and unique pieces. During a visit,you can view exhibits concerning six major areas: Costumes and Textiles, Decorative Arts, Paintings and Sculpture, Prints and Photographs, Theatre, and Toys. Artifacts date back to the colonial period and continue through to the present. Interested in seeing even more? Event planning is easy at the Museum of the City of New York – simply contact the Museum’s Event Coordinator and let your dreams run wild! The museum is a perfect setting for intimate functions, corporate parties and fundraisers. There is a front courtyard, a back terrace, and a marble rotunda amongst other great amenities that are perfect for entertaining. Event capacity is 500 people for a cocktail reception, 250 guests for a seated dinner party and 248 guests for an auditorium layout.
Admission and Hours of Operation
The Museum of the City of New York is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The museum is normally closed on Mondays, except on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day. The suggested admission price is $9 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Admission to the Museum of the City of New York is free on Sundays between 10am and 12pm.
