The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers more than 75 hours of insightful audio commentary through its Audio Guide Tour program. Developed by curators and educators, these audio tours features little know facts and important details on practically every piece in the museum’s collection. Plan to rent an Audio Guide player at any admissions desk, the Audio Guide desk in the Great Hall or at the entrance to special exhibitions.
Can’t get enough of the Met? Well, now you don’t have to. You can now purchase tickets to exclusive museum events, including ground-breaking lectures and soul-touching concerts. New York discount car rentals travelers can purchase tickets to concert and lecture events at the Museum’s Great Hall Box Office, Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from noon to 5pm. You may be unaware that the Met features a second, smaller location in Fort Tyron Park. This section of the Met, known as the Cloisters, is devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe (the 12th through 15th century). Exhibits at the Cloisters include sculptures, tapestries, illuminated manuscripts and works of enamel. You can participate in a Collections Highlights Tour of the Cloisters Sundays and Tuesdays through Fridays at 3pm. These tours are offered free with museum admission. Garden tours are also offered Tuesdays through Sundays at 1pm. The Cloisters are open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30am to approximately 5pm (closing time changes depending on the season). Recommended admission to the Cloisters is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students (this includes same day admission to the Met as well).
