Is eight enough?
The John F. Kennedy Airport began construction in 1942 and used up about $60 million to construct this NYC airport. Only about 1,000 acres were set out to be used and the airport launched its first plane on July 1, 1948. The need for flights became bigger and bigger and so did the airport. It expanded to include 4,000 more acres and eight new terminals. Each one of the eight terminals that were built was designed by one of the airport’s main airlines like Eastern, National and Pan Am. This NYC airport went even further to build a rail network that connects each terminal to the subways for the convenience of its travelers. JFK Airport was one of the first airports to close after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. It was only closed temporarily and now it’s one of the busiest airports in the US. Take some time to wander around and see what you can discover.
